If you care for a person with disability, the Australian Government may give you financial help.

Payments for carers

The payments available for carers are:

  • carer payments – the Carer Payment, Carer Allowance or Carer Supplement
  • family payments – such as the Child Disability Assistance Payment
  • tax offsets – reduce how much tax you pay on your taxable income. You may get a tax offset if you care for a person with disability and neither you, nor the person you care for, got carer or disability payments for the full financial year
